Baton Training
We offer three programs. Monadnock / Phase IV Tactical Baton / ASP
Monadnock Expandable Baton (MEB) and PR-24 Training Programs
Monadnock Lifetime Products, Inc. has been at the forefront of straight baton technology since 1958. For example, Monadnock invented the first thermoplastic straight baton. Using advanced technology, Monadnock has continued to manufacture superior friction lock batons called the Detective, Mariner and Officer Series batons, in a variety of lengths and weights. In addition, Monadnock also offers two positive locking baton lines called MX and SX Batons. Now we have pushed the envelope even further with our AutoLock® Baton which combines the advantages of both friction lock and positive lock batons. Monadnock has always manufactured its own baton products unlike many of it competitors.
Monadnock's leadership role is not limited to technology alone. Monadnock is a well-respected and internationally known name in law enforcement education as a result of the creation of the Monadnock Police Training Council, Inc. The Council's certification procedures and standards are amply structured to meet the most sophisticated legal challenges. The Council's expandable baton techniques can be quickly mastered and performed under stress, including the four baton-assisted subject control skills. The Council's certification is fully researched in terms of tactical, medical, and legal consequences resulting from police intervention. A cadre of competent expert witnesses stands behind all Council certification programs. Experts who can render an opinion concerning the reasonable use of force as defined by contemporary law enforcement standards and procedures. Though there are a number of modern police batons carried by police officers in the United States, the straight or standard police baton has the longest history of use by law enforcement personnel. There are many types of straight baton courses being offered to law enforcement agencies today. They each have their own individual favorite techniques and philosophies, and although they all offer something of value, there are two main weaknesses in most straight baton systems. First, techniques learned in one style are not certified or transferable to another baton system. Secondly, most straight baton systems do not make available control, escort or takedown techniques as part of their programs.
The philosophy of the MEB Program is the same as the Monadnock PR-24 Program. This means the primary purpose for using an expandable, straight baton is to defend against attacks from fists, feet, and hard, rigid type weapons. And the Secondary purpose is to apply control techniques to move, restrain or assist in handcuffing a person. It is this two-prong philosophy of "Protect & Restrain" which separates Monadnock programs from most other straight baton systems available today. Most other baton systems teach that the straight baton should only be used to strike. However, take into consideration the implications of such a limited view of this valued law enforcement tool. The two-pronged philosophy of our training states that once the person stops being combative, the next logical step is to apply a control hold with the baton that is already in your hand. The view that the only purpose of the baton is to strike someone is dangerous both legally and morally to you, the officer, and to those you are sworn to protect. The humane and proper approach to all types of baton handling is to train law enforcement, security, corrections and military police officers, first on how to employ the baton to block or strike, and once the person stops the assault, to apply an assisted control technique using the baton. The objective is to provide law enforcement officers with as many options as possible on the street.
The Monadnock Expandable Baton (MEB) Program consists of a Basic and Advanced Course. The Basic Course Certification Program is a 4-hour course dealing with the blocking and striking capabilities of the straight expandable baton. The Advanced Certification Program is an 8-hour course that follows the same curriculum as the Basic Program, but also teaches control and takedown techniques to mirror the two-prong philosophy of "Protect & Restrain".
Today, law enforcement agencies and officers must select the most humanely effective, appropriate and available non-compliant subject control equipment. They must also make the right choice in a training approach which best utilizes that equipment in a socially and legally acceptable (non-compliant) subject-control strategy. Monadnock provides the law enforcement community with a wide selection of expandable or rigid batons that can be used by officers to ward off an attack or aid them in restraining a non-compliant subject. However, a baton is only an artificial extension of an officer's body. Training links an officer's body and mind to the baton. Council training provides the best approach for linking a user to today's baton technology.

Phase IV Tactical BatonPhase IV Tactical Baton System is one of the newest to the Law Enforcement and Security field. The techniques desigened for Phase IV Baton is based on two factors, one is field training and operations and the second is updating the techniques for today. You will never find a better baton system then this one.
ASP Baton
Each officer completing ASP training will endure the most rigorous curriculum of its type in the world.* This is a program for the street officer. Easy to learn. Effective when used. Defensible in court. ASP techniques are designed to work for all officers, not just those with a high level of physical skill. These are honest techniques. Over a decade of experience has proven that they work on
the street, not just in the ideal environment of a classroom or gymnasium. Simple to learn and easy to remember. ASP techniques will be used long after training has ended.
The Corporation
Armament Systems and Procedures (ASP) is the largest manufacturer of Tactical Batons® and Tactical Handcuffs in the world.
The company supplies impact weapons and restraints to major police agencies in over 75 countries.
The ASP Tactical Baton is the dominant intermediate force impact weapon in the law enforcement community. ASP products are divided into five major categories: Batons, Restraints, Training, Pepper Spray and Lighting.

PTTC Tactical Handcuffing
Handcuffs are among the most often used tool by law enforcement & security officers, yet training is severely lacking. Studies show that over 67% of resistance by subjects occurs after the first handcuff has been applied. All too often the result is injury and/or death to either the officer or subject.
This course also has been used extensively by the "Loss Prevention" Industry by officers who, in the course and scope of their employment, are confronted by the need to be properly trained in handcuffing procedures. For liability reasons, an officer who has been training in the proper handcuffing and then is forced to make an arrest always looks better before the court than an officer who has affected the arrest and was never trained to properly apply the cuffs.
Course DescriptionThe PATH® “Practical and Tactical Handcuffing” course is the most complete and innovative handcuffing course in the country. The techniques presented are practical and effective. Topics to be covered include the safest approach and positioning for handcuffing, handcuffing non-compliant subjects, prone and kneeling handcuffing, removing handcuffs, and the use of various type of cuffs, among others.

Phase IV OC
Law Enforcement / Security Only
The Phase IV line of OC sprays is the culmination of an extensive combined effort between Winner International and numerous accredited and certified law enforcement trainers. The Phase IV meet the highest demand for law enforcement use. Winner International designed and produced the most effective OC for situations requiring less than lethal force. Phase IV units come in different sizes and spray patterns. The Phase IV 10% OC formula has a 3 million scoville heat rating and a 1.33% overall major capsaicinoid content. Phase IV is and has the most effective stopping power in the industry.
Winner International was formed and incorporated in 1986. Expanding off the success of The Club®, Winner International moved into the commercial, residential, recreational and personal security and safety markets with other products worldwide. Headquartered in Sharon, Pennsylvania, Winner International is a privately-held battery, security and safety products company.

Features:
EASY TO USE - All Club® Pepper Spray™ units are made to be used quickly and easily, providing maximum effectiveness when you need it most. Stream formula designed for outdoor use - very little effect from wind, rain, or snow.
POLICE STRENGTH FORMULATION - The Club® Pepper Spray's police strength formulation uses top quality Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) with a high heat factor. OC is a resin extracted from hot peppers that is available in many strengths. A Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) rates the potency and heat of the OC. Most pepper sprays have a 1MM or 1.5MM SHU rating, while The Club® Pepper Spray™ has a powerful 2MM SHU rating.
EFFECTIVE - Upon contact with the mucous membranes (eyes, nose, throat, and lungs), The Club® Pepper Spray™ quickly dilates capillaries of eyes causing temporary blindness and inflames the breathing tissues causing choking, coughing, nausea and extreme discomfort, disabling your attacker for up to 30-45 minutes, including those under the influence of drugs and alcohol. Effective up to 15 feet in a concentrated area, reducing the risk of contamination to persons outside the intended strike area. Unlike a fog or foam formula, only the attacker is enveloped in the stream.
QUALITY ASSURANCE - Every pepper spray unit is inspected for leakage, pressure variance, performance, and quality of materials and workmanship before shipping.

Fox OC
Fox Labs, Incorporated was founded in 1992. The intent was to create and sell the best less-lethal, self defense products available to the civilian market. In 1993, after investing over $250,000.00 in research, it was determined that law enforcement agencies could benefit from new, improved formulas and products and the primary marketing objective was revised. Fox personal did more interviews with officers from around the country and, working with one of the leading chemists in the field, created formulas that became industry benchmarks: FOX Premium Aerosol Defense Sprays.
In 1994 Fox labs became the first company to introduce law enforcement agencies to a 5% Oleoresin Capsicum (OC) less-lethal, non-flammable, aerosol defense spray in a true 2,000,000 Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) formula. Simultaneously they introduced 2% formulas using OC rated at 2mm SHU OC and 1% OC & 1% CS (teargas) formulas-and revolutionized the industry! Other companies followed the Fox Labs lead by creating formulas of 5.5%, 10% and even greater solutions claiming that "more was better." This was not and still is not true, although they still persist in spreading this misinformation. Higher percentages of OC only increase the recovery time and therefore the liability risks. The actual fact is there are two things that determine the intensity and effectiveness of an aerosol defense spray product. First it is then SHU rating and secondly the base ingredients within the formulas. Fox Premium aerosol defense sprays are still the leaders in these categories and are used by virtually every type of law enforcement agency and their officers in addition to civilians from all walks of life all over the world. Because of their field-proven reliability and extraordinary stopping power Fox Premium aerosol defense sprays have become legendary amongst the people who use them. Not content to sit on their laurels and desiring to provide both law enforcement and the civilian markets with unparalleled education about aerosol defense sprays and decontamination products, Fox continued to explore new avenues to provide an aerosol defense spray that would make individuals even safer and more effective when using this type of product. In August of 1998 they succeeded and again established a new standard by introducing FIVE POINT THREE, a 2% OC formula rated at a true 5.3 million SHU! FIVE POINT THREE represents a major breakthrough for law enforcement agencies because it affords all of the unbridled stopping power of higher percentage formulas while reducing the recovery time and liability concerns associated with other aerosol defense sprays. As training officers and other decision makers become aware of this new product and the real benefits it offers, it is expected to change the face of the aerosol defense spray market just as the introduction of the FOX 5% formula did in 1994.

OCAT training
Aerosol chemical agents have been around for many years. The impact of the use of these chemical agents wasn't significant until 1976 when Mr. Gardner Whitcomb introduced an Oleoresin Capsicum (pepper spray) formulation. At the request of Mr. Whitcomb, the first official OC training manual was co-written by Roland Ouellette and Ed Nowicki. OC has proven to be more effective than CS or CN, and as a result, numerous companies now manufacture OC aerosol sprays.
Since the introduction of the OCAT® "Oleoresin Capsicum Aerosol Training" program in 1991, thousands of instructors and countless basic users have been trained from agencies such as healthcare, federal, military, law enforcement, security, and corrections. The OCAT® program is not brand specific and addresses the proper use of all OC products.
Personal Protection Consultants Inc. owns and administers the OCAT® training programs through a network of In-House Instructors and Independent Instructor-Trainers. PPC, Inc. instructors have many years of law enforcement experience, as well as nearly 20 years of OCAT® training experience.
The OCAT® program is designed for human service professionals who deal with conflict or potential violence. This includes corporations, law enforcement organizations, security companies, academic institutions, healthcare facilities, military, and federal agencies. More than 10,000 OCAT® instructors have been trained worldwide.
